The 15-year-old sent an email to Bayonne High School staff at 5:55 p.m. Sunday wit threats involving the use of a bomb to be set off on Tuesday, police said.

Authorities determined that the teen had no intention of actually carrying out the threat. He was quickly identified by police after sending the email and arrested from his home.

The boy was charged with terroristic threats and hindering apprehension.

“The safety and security of all of our students, faculty, staff and our community remain our number one priority,” Bayonne Superintendent John Niesz wrote in a statement to students and parents on the district’s website. “Our zero tolerance policy of unsafe behavior continues.”
