The first snowfall of the season hit the Twin Cities metro area on Monday morning. While snow is expected most of the week, it derailed the Monday morning commute.

The Twitter account @SafetyAlertsMN compiled some of the craziest spinouts caught on MnDOT traffic cameras around the state.

A spin-out in between two semis would normally turn out badly. This driver navigated it seamlessly...or had a stroke of luck.

Back to the "off" ramp for a fifth car finding the ditch.

A "high-speed" chase in Mounds View this morning.

And a final (for now) look at the "off" ramp again as car number six finds its way into the ditch.

If you're asking yourself why MnDOT didn't "pretreat" the roads...you're not alone. So did Drivetime With DeRusha host Jason DeRusha. He tweeted asking that question and MnDOT's communications manager responded.

Be safe on the roads today, Minnesota!
