fentanylHennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty says charges have been brought against six people ranging from illegal gun possession, intent to sell cocaine, meth and 34 pounds of fentanyl.

The arrests follow an investigation by several agencies in and around the Twin Cities. Moriarity says her office is now working with the U.S. Attorney to decide the best jurisdiction to prosecute the cases, either at the state or federal level.

“These cases are the result of incredible work by our law enforcement partners to seize these narcotics and arrest those trying to spread them throughout our communities,” Moriarty said. “We have a public health crisis in our neighborhoods because of the fentanyl flooding the streets. We will not rest in our efforts to bring to justice those who seek to destroy our communities with these deadly drugs.”

The suspects are from the Twin Cities area, with one from Moline, Illinois.
