Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is currently quarantining after testing positive for COVID-19. She might also be nursing some virtual wounds after being mocked by internet trolls.
Clinton, 74, announced her diagnosis on Twitter Tuesday, saying she had some mild cold symptoms but was otherwise feeling fine. She added that former president Bill Clinton tested negative, and that they were "quarantining until our household is fully in the clear."
The former First Lady wrapped up her announcement with a seemingly innocent request for her followers: "Movie recommendations appreciated!" However, many used the opportunity to take a shot at Clinton.
Several followers recommended that she watch the 2016 action film "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi," inspired by the 2012 terrorist attack against the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Clinton was Secretary of State at the time of the attack, which left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.
Others suggested she watch the FX series "Impeachment: American Crime Story," based on the Monica Lewinsky scandal, which ultimately led to President Clinton's impeachment in 1998.
Some followers brought up conspiracy theories about her alleged links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, suggesting she watch the Netflix documentary series "Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich."
Others suggested "The Plot Against the President," a documentary that examines apparent evidence of a conspiracy to sabotage then-President Donald Trump.
Juanita Broaddrick, who claims she was raped by Bill Clinton during his 1978 campaign for Arkansas governor, offered a different suggestion: read a book. Specifically, she posted a picture of her book, "Some Ice on That: How I Survived Being Raped by Bill Clinton."
Clinton did receive some serious recommendations. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki suggested "Inventing Anna," a miniseries inspired by the story of Anna Sorokin, and Netflix's official Twitter account recommended "The Adam Project," starring Ryan Reynolds.
