Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was asked about the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riots over the weekend and shocked many when she said she thinks, "the American people are fed up with this over-dramatization of a riot that happened here at the Capitol one time."

After an NBC News article was published on Sunday, the Republican from Georgia took to Twitter and posted the full video of her answer to reporter Scott Wong, complaining that the story "only report a twisted sound bite of our words."

The full video showed that NBC News did accurately use Greene's quote in the article.

"Do you think it was a mistake for [House Republican Minority Leader] Kevin McCarthy to remove all of the Republicans on the January 6 committee once [Speaker of the House Nancy] Pelosi took off [Illinois Rep.] Jim Banks and (Ohio Rep.] Jim Jordan?" Wong asked.

"You know what I think? The American people are fed up with this overdramatization of a riot that happened here at the Capitol one time," Greene said.

"You know what they care about, they care about the border that's getting invaded, they care about the gas prices they can't afford, the food prices they're about to not be able to afford. They're sick and tired of the drama from all you people that run around the Capitol, and that’s all you want to talk about.

Greene continued by saying that Americans are "sick and tired of January 6."

"If you want to get outside of the city and come to my district and talk to real Americans, you’re going to hear a totally different story," Greene said. "They are sick and tired of January 6, it's over, ok.

"It was a riot, it was horrible, I hated it, I was shocked, it was a terrible experience. People are rotting in jail pre-trial because they've been arrested for it. Why don't you go to the jail and visit those people. Everyone's being prosecuted that should be prosecuted. Why don't you care about things that people honestly care about, instead of continuing on with this, ok. Go ask about BLM and Antifa rioters, see if they're rotting in jail."

The House select committee is still conducting their investigation into everything that happened in the days leading up to and on Jan. 6, and is planning for public, televised hearings at some point next month, according to NBC News.

A Pew Research Center poll that was published on Feb. 8 asked people the amount of attention they've paid to Jan. 6 and the fairness in the congressional probe. 31% of people said "too little" attention has been paid, while 33% said the "right amount" and 35% said "too much."

65% of Republican or Republican-leaning people in the poll said "too much" attention has been paid towards the Jan. 6 riots. While 48% of Democrats or Democratic-leaning people said "too little" attention has been on the riots, and 41% said it's been the "right amount."
