Almost 1,200 fairgoers have received their first dose of COVID vaccine at the Great Minnesota Get-Together.
Gov. Walz announcing Tuesday that the Community Vaccine Clinic has administered 1,199 shots in the first four days of the fair.
"What we've tried to do is make it available and as easy as possible for people to get this," Walz told John Hines on the WCCO Morning News. "It's really encouraging to see this at the State Fair."
Each of those people getting the shots also receive a $100 gift card.
Walz said he's heard from workers giving out the vaccine.
"One of the stories they told me that was really great, there was a young lady celebrating her 12th birthday by getting the vaccine," he said. "She wanted to do that, and wanted to go back to school."
The vaccine clinic is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day and is located at the North End Event Center, North of Murphy Avenue.
The shots are free, and walk-ins are welcome.
