Neither Brad Marchand nor Charlie McAvoy were finalists for the Hart Trophy or Norris Trophy, respectively, but both did finish in the top five.

With the NHL announcing its remaining award-winners Tuesday night along with vote totals, it was revealed that Marchand finished fifth in voting for the Hart (given to the league MVP), while McAvoy also finished fifth for the Norris (given to the best all-around defenseman).

Marchand finished behind Oilers center Connor McDavid, Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews, Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon and Penguins center Sidney Crosby. McDavid was the unanimous winner, taking all 100 first-place votes.

Marchand was also named a First Team All-Star for the second time in his career. The fifth-place Hart finish matches his career-best, as he also finished fifth in 2019.

The top of the Norris field was filled with players with local ties. Rangers blue-liner Adam Fox, a Harvard alum, won, followed by Colorado's Cale Makar (who played at UMass), Tampa Bay's Victor Hedman, Carolina's Dougie Hamilton (a former Bruin), and then McAvoy (who of course played at Boston University).

The fifth-place finish is McAvoy's best so far. He previously finished 10th in 2020.

In the other major award announced Tuesday night, Vegas' Marc-Andre Fleury took home his first career Vezina Trophy as the top goalie in the league, narrowly edging out Tampa Bay's Andrei Vasilevskiy.

It had previously been announced that Patrice Bergeron finished second in this year's Selke Trophy (best defensive forward) voting.
