The Celtics and center Robert Williams have agreed to a four-year extension worth $54 million, his agent tells ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Williams, 23, is coming off his best season, averaging 8.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 18.9 minutes per game in 52 games last season.
He has shown the ability to be a starting-caliber center when healthy, but has also battled injuries throughout his three NBA seasons, limiting him to a total of 113 games in three years.
This deal is clearly a bet that Williams will be able to stay healthier going forward, as it puts him in the top half of NBA centers in terms of annual salary.
