The wait continues.

According to NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran, an announcement on Bill Belichick's future with the Patriots is not expected for Monday.

Belichick and New England ownership (Robert and Jonathan Kraft) are scheduled to meet this week and discuss what's next for the franchise moving forward, with ESPN's Mike Reiss reporting that said meeting could happen as soon as Monday.

"I'm under contract," the Patriots head coach explained on Monday morning during his annual end-of-season press conference. "[I'll do] what I always do, which is every day I come in and work as hard as I can to help the team in whatever way I can. So, that's what I'm going to continue to do."

"As far as any decisions or direction or anything like that for next year," he continued. "It's way too early for that. End-of-the-year processes, I don't think will be fundamentally any different from the standpoint of how it's done. The decisions, that's a whole other conversation. But how it's done, I'll meet with Robert [Kraft] like I always do, meet with the staff, meet with the personnel department, kind of recap the season, look at the big picture and then look at some of the individual situations that are looming one way or another."

Curran reported last month that the Krafts had "made a decision" on Belichick's future with the team following their loss to the Colts in October and planned to part ways with the long-time head coach after the season. He has since said, and reiterated, that minds can change.

If the Patriots do part ways with Belichick, it's been reported that former linebacker and current Titans head coach Mike Vrabel would have interest in the opening.
