6 rings: Wednesday stat day: A look at the numbers following Patriots 31-17 loss to Dolphins
Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis shook up the NFL world early Wednesday morning when it was announced that the team fired general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels.
Ziegler spent eight seasons in the Patriots' front office from 2013-2021 and McDaniels, of course, was with New England on and off since 2001, winning Super Bowl rings in the process.
On Wednesday morning, Bill Belichick was asked about their dismissal from Vegas:
"Yeah, I just heard about it this morning." Belichick responded. "Just trying to get ready for Washington."
He was then asked if he'd be open to having McDaniels back on the Patriots' coaching staff:
"Just getting ready for Washington."
The last time McDaniels was fired as a head coach, in 2010 from the Broncos, he spent the next season as the St. Louis Rams' offensive coordinator before returning to New England in 2012, so there's certainly a chance they'd welcome him back in some capacity.
McDaniels and Mac Jones worked well together during the quarterbacks rookie season. Perhaps there's a chance they could spark that once again.
