Mike Onwenu is making moves ahead of free agency.

The offensive lineman has reportedly told teams via email that he's fired his representation (Roosevelt Barnes and Jovan Barnes) and according to Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk, Onwenu may decide to represent himself.

Onwenu was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and has started 56 games at both tackle and guard over his four seasons in Foxborough.

His future in New England has been reported on multiple times since the end of the 2023 season – and from multiple angles. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler New England, “essentially know[s] Onwenu’s not coming back,” while according to NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry, “one team source indicated that there is a real affinity for Onwenu's game in the building and that they'd like to have him back in Foxboro for 2024 and beyond.”

He also told AtoZ Sports' Sophie Weller that he's open to returning to Foxborough.

Franchise tagging Onwenu would cost the Patriots $20,985,000 on a one-year deal. NFL free agency officially opens on Wednesday, March 13th.
