Gresh and fauria: What went wrong between Bill Belichick and Asante Samuel?
We've had throwback uniforms galore over the last several weeks in the NFL as we make our way toward the start of the season, and the Patriots had one of their own for us on Thursday.
New England announced that they will wear their throwback red “Pat Patriot” uniforms twice during the upcoming campaign. Here are the dates:
- Sunday, September 17th vs. the Miami Dolphins
- Sunday, December 3rd vs. the Los Angeles Chargers
The Pats donned these red throwbacks twice last season, going 1-1 in the uniforms. They started them off with a 29-0 win against the Detroit Lions, Bailey Zappe’s first start, and then lost to the Bills in them 24-10 eight weeks later.
The NFL made a rule change beginning last season that allows teams to wear multiple shells on their helmets in a given year, giving leeway for clubs to get creative with their garb.
These were the Patriots' primary home uniforms from 1960-1992.
