6 rings: state of the Patriots chat & a Patriots/Chiefs preview with Jonas Gray
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, in atypical fashion, broke some news on Friday morning in telling the media that Demario Douglas, who's been out for the last two weeks, has cleared concussion protocol. The rookie wide receiver "should be available", barring a setback, according to the coach.
New England also switched things up practice-wise on Friday when, instead of using their normal practice fields, they brought the session inside the walls of Gillette Stadium to prep for Sunday's home contest vs. the Chiefs. Here's what stood out:
Attendance:
Absent:
RB Rhamondre Stevenson
OT Trent Brown
DT Christian Barmore
IR:
CB Marcus Jones
DL Daniel Ekuale
CB Christian Gonzalez
LB Matthew Judon
OT Riley Reiff
OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr.
WR Kendrick Bourne
Other Notes:
- ST Brenden Schooler, who was absent on Thursday, returned to the practice field on Friday.
- DT Christian Barmore was a new absence from Patriots practice on Friday. He was limited on Thursday with a shoulder injury.
- Still no Trent Brown on Friday, leaving his status for Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs very much in question.
- Former RBs coach Ivan Fears was seen watching Patriots practice from the stands inside Gillette Stadium. He's been a frequent guest this season.
