6 Rings Mailbag: Where do the Patriots go from here?

The Patriots are 2-8 headed into a much needed bye week.

The players will be off from Thursday to Sunday with a return set Monday, but not before one final tuneup practice on Wednesday in Foxborough.

With Mac Jones' (and Bill Belichick's, frankly) job status very much up in the air, here's what stood out:

Attendance:

Absent:
OT Trent Brown
RB Ty Montgomery

IR:
CB Marcus Jones
DL Daniel Ekuale
CB Christian Gonzalez
LB Matthew Judon
OT Riley Reiff
OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr
WR Kendrick Bourne

Other Notes:

- Trent Brown (knee/ankle/personal) and Ty Montgomery (unknown) were the two lone absences.

- In the little bit of actual practice we were able to see, Mac Jones took the first reps/lined up with the starting Patriots offense.

- J.C. Jackson, who was effectively sent home/suspended last week, was back at practice on Wednesday.

- Wednesday was the Patriots' first practice without Jack Jones on the roster. The 2022 fourth-round pick was waived on Monday and claimed by the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday.

- OT Riley Reiff was spotted at practice, opening his 21-day window to return from injured reserve.

- Running back Jamycal Hasty, who the Patriots claimed off waivers to replace Jones, was spotted at practice wearing jersey No. 39.

- WR Kendrick Bourne is set to undergo surgery on his torn right ACL on Wednesday.
