6 rings: Breaking down the Patriots’ initial 53-man roster
The Patriots took the field one final time prior to Labor Day weekend on Thursday, but this time with an added wrinkle. The club took to the game field inside of Gillette Stadium as they begin to ramp up preparation for Week 1, as in just 10 days, the Philadelphia Eagles are in town to kick off the regular season.
With the caveat, once again, that we’re only allowed to take attendance now that training camp is over, here’s what stood out from the session:
Attendance:
Absent: DeVante Parker, Tyquan Thornton (IR designation pending) Riley Reiff, James Ferentz
PUP: Cody Davis, Trey Flowers
Other Notes:
- WR Tyquan Thornton is headed to the injured reserve, according to multiple reports. He has not officially been put on the list, but he was absent from practice.
- Some rookies got new numbers ahead of practice on Thursday. The following changes were made:
Christian Gonzalez: #19 to #6
Bryce Baringer: #9 to #17
Chad Ryland: #38 to #37
Sidy Sow: #61 to #62
Joe Giles-Harris: #53 to #44
Corliss Waitman: #15 to #39
Isaiah Bolden: #7 to #29
- The Patriots rocked split jerseys today, not indicative of offense and defense. Presumably a split-squad scrimmage inside the stadium.
