6 rings: Instant Reaction as Patriots trade Pierre Strong to the Browns
So, I said Sunday’s roster was my final projection, however, things change. With trades happening in New England and players already getting cut, here's a quick revision following the additions of two offensive linemen and the trade of running back Pierre Strong Jr.:
Quarterbacks (3): Malik Cunningham (R), Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe
Out: Trace McSorley
The more I think about it, the more I think Malik Cunningham will make the 53-man roster. Bill Belichick told WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show that he has a “good resume” perhaps indicating that he doesn’t want him to be subjected to waivers.
The former Louisville QB continues New England’s UDFA streak.
Running Backs (3): Ezekiel Elliott, Ty Montgomery, Rhamondre Stevenson
Out: Kevin Harris, JJ Taylor
With Pierre Strong Jr. no longer on the team, I think the team keeps just three running backs. I also maintain that they keep Ty Montgomery as the third RB.
New England will be able to get Kevin Harris and JJ Taylor on the practice squad, so they’re released for now.
Wide Receivers (6): Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte (R), Demario Douglas (R), DeVante Parker, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton
Out: Thyrick Pitts (R), Raleigh Webb
No changes.
Tight Ends (2): Mike Gesicki, Hunter Henry
Out: Anthony Firkser, Matt Sokol
No changes.
Offensive Line (10): David Andrews, Jake Andrews (R), Trent Brown, Vederian Lowe, Atonio Mafi (R), Mike Onwenu, Riley Reiff, Sidy Sow (R), Cole Strange, Tyrone Wheatley Jr.
Out: Calvin Anderson, James Ferentz, Chasen Hines, Conor McDermott, Bill Murray, Kody Russey, Andrew Stueber
The acquisitions of Tyrone Wheatley Jr. and Vederian Lowe changes things in the offensive line room.
There’s no way they’re trading for these guys without planning to have them on their 53. I still have them keeping 10, with Chasen Hines and Conor McDermott no longer making the roster.
Defensive Line (6): Christian Barmore, Daniel Ekuale, Davon Godchaux, Sam Roberts, Keion White (R), Deatrich Wise Jr.
Out: Lawrence Guy, Jeremiah Pharms Jr.

Linebackers (8): Ja’Whaun Bentley, Chris Board, Anfernee Jennings, Marte Mapu (R), Calvin Munson, Matthew Judon, Jahlani Tavai, Josh Uche
