6 rings: Reacting to the Patriots coordinators introductory press conferences

Bill Belichick may be coming to a television near you.

After not only the Patriots, but the rest of the NFL, passed over Belichick being their head coach in 2024, the greatest of all time is currently unemployed. But that doesn't mean he's not looking for things to do.

Belichick's oldest son Steve, now the defensive coordinator at the University of Washington, joined former Patriots defensive end Chris Long's Green Light podcast on Friday and gave an update on his father, while also sneaking in some insight about what may be next for him:

"I think he's good," Steve said when how his father is doing. "Let this stuff roll off your back and move forward. He doesn't dwell unless we lost a game and he needs to get on some guys, but mentally you've got to turn the page. Honestly, I wasn't too involved in any of this stuff. He did his thing, I did my thing, and that was kind of that."

"But he's definitely pursuing some other stuff," Belichick continued. "Whether it's TV, or be a regular on the Green Light."

While he was joking about the Green Light appearances, he sounded awfully serious about TV, something his father is seemingly made for. Belichick not only knocked his College GameDay cameo at December's Army-Navy game out of the park, but he also won an Emmy for his work as an analyst on the NFL Network's NFL 100 All-Time Team series back in 2019.

Given that his former right-hand man Berj Najarian has reportedly taken a job on Bill O'Brien's Boston College football staff, TV is looking much more likely than coaching for Bill in 2024.

Steve also spoke about his former co-linebackers coach Jerod Mayo getting the Patriots head coaching job, saying that they, "became so close these last few years."

"I’m super excited for Jerod," he continued. "I think he’s ready for this. I think it was his time. He’s a great motivator and he’s a great teacher. Those are two good qualities for a head coach."

It was fascinating hearing Steve open up a bit. You can listen to his full appearance with Long here.
