Tom Brady says he’s ‘not opposed’ to returning to football, Patriots in the future

jones & mego with arcand: who is the worst owner in boston?

Oh boy. Here we go.

Just over two months before he'll officially be enshrined into the Patriots Hall of Fame, NFL legend and the greatest football player of all time Tom Brady is getting fans hopes up once again.

In a recent appearance on the DeepCut with VicBlends podcast, Brady was asked if there would ever be a scenario in which he'd return to the game he owned for 20+ years. Here's the back-and-forth:

Let's say one day there's a situation," VicBlends asked. "Maybe it's the 49ers, maybe you know headed to the playoffs, offense is great..."

"Patriots," Brady interjected. "Could be Raiders, could be, you never know."

"God forbid somebody goes down, VicBlends continued. "Would you pick up that phone?"

"I'm not opposed to it," answered Brady. "If they would-- I don't know if they're going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I don't know. I'm always going to be in good shape, always going to be able to throw the ball, so. To come in for a little bit, like MJ coming back? I don't know if they'd let me, but I wouldn't be opposed to it."

Is this more or less friendly banter rather than something with actual legs? Absolutely. The Patriots have a new head coach, the No. 3 overall pick, and are much closer to a rebuild than Super Bowl contention.

But man, it would be something to see the GOAT play one more season -- especially in red, white, and blue.
