David Ortiz talks Mookie Betts ... with Mookie Betts
They were a dynamic duo for the better part of three seasons. But both of their legacies - and their friendship - continue to live on.
That was Mookie Betts and David Ortiz.
Of all the tidal wave of hugs and greetings Betts experienced since returning to Fenway Park Friday night, perhaps there was no more noticeable one than his reunion with Ortiz, the kind of player the current Dodger is seemingly evolving into.
While taping an episode of the 'Baseball Isn't Boring' podcast prior to the Red Sox game against Los Angeles Saturday, Ortiz was surprised in home dugout by his old friend, with Betts going out of his way to greet one of his most impactful mentors.

Ortiz: "My dog! You good?
Betts: "Trying to look like you one day."
Ortiz: "Last night when you walked to the plate and I saw the ovation coming from the fans that made me want to be here clapping for you. You are well-deserved all that."
Betts: "Thank you, sir."
Ortiz: "Last night I was in front of the hotel and saw a whole bunch of Dodgers fans I walk out and they were like, ‘Papi!’ They came out and took a picture with me and I asked them, ‘Are you guys taking care of my boy Mookie up in LA?’ You know what they told me? ‘We embrace Mookie. We are blessed to have Mookie.’ That’s what they told me, straight up."
Betts: "I learned from you."
