Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Year for his Week 5 performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
Allen threw for a franchise record (in a non-overtime game) with 424 passing yards. He also went 20-of-31 in the air and threw four touchdowns. That helped lead the Bills to a 38-3 blowout victory to improve 4-1 this season.
Allen got off to a great start, as on the third play from scrimmage, he threw a 98-yard touchdown to Gabe Davis, followed by a 62-yard touchdown again to Davis later in the secon quarter.
The fifth-year quarterback also connected on touchdown passes to Stefon Diggs and Khalil Shakir.

Allen leads the NFL in passing yards through five games with 1,651, and is second in the NFL with 14 touchdowns.
This is the eighth time that Allen has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week in his career. He now only trails Hall-of-Famer Jim Kelly, who won 10 honors from the NFL.
Allen was last named AFC Offensive Player of the Week back in Week 3 of the 2021 season in a performance against the, now, Washington Commanders.
It is the second time this season a Bills player has been recognized by the NFL, as safety Jordan Poyer was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week following his Week 4 performance against the Baltimore Ravens.
