Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the first time since being awarded the National Football League's Most Valuable Player honor last month and signing his record-breaking contract extension this past Sunday, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen met with the media on Wednesday to discuss it all.
Joining on Zoom from Southern California, Allen says he instructed his agent to make sure the Bills retained salary cap flexibility when they signed the new contract.
Allen received an NFL-record $250 million in guaranteed money, and $330 million over the next six years. He will be tied to the Bills now through the 2030 season.
The 28-year-old's original salary cap hit of $44 million will be reduced significantly, allowing the team to sign free agents this offseason.
The Bills quarterback also touched on winning the MVP, saying he doesn't believe it has completely sunk in yet. He also says his speech at NFL Honors was mostly off the cuff, especially when he got emotional after seeing his parents' reaction from the front row.
Here's a thread of what Allen had to say on Wednesday:
