McDermott: Bills 'learned a little bit' about themselves in win over Chiefs

Bills head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media following Sunday's 28-21 win over Kansas City

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills improved to 6-2 on the season Sunday after taking down the Kansas City Chiefs, 28-21, at Highmark Stadium. It is the fifth-straight game in the regular season where the Bills have beaten the Chiefs.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott feels his team did a great job stepping up for one another, especially with a number of players dealing with injuries.

"I think we learned a little bit about ourselves today," said McDermott during his postgame comments with the media. "We’re not where we need to be, but I saw the team come together when it got tough."

The injury news only got worse for the Bills on Sunday, as edge rusher Michael Hoecht was forced to leave the game in the third quarter due to injury. McDermott confirmed following the game Hoecht tore his Achilles and will be out the remainder of the year.

"It’s a big loss," McDermott admitted. "I thought he gave us a certain level of toughness, smarts, knowing how to play the game. ... We've gotta find somebody who can step up."
