McDermott felt Bills played 'relentless style of football' in win over Steelers

Bills head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media following his team's 26-7 victory in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, Pa. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills improve their record to 8-4 and bounce back after a tough Thursday night loss in Houston with a much needed 26-7 victory over the Steelers.

The Bills and Steelers' defenses locked both offenses down in the first half as the first quarter was a punt-fest between the two teams. The Steelers also forced two turnovers from the Bills offense (one interception and a James Cook lost fumble) and took the Bills to the halftime intermission with a low-scoring 7-3 lead.

The offense could not get much rolling for the Bills, until the second half began.

From their on, a scoop-and-score from the defense, a record-setting 76th Josh Allen rushing TD, a touchdown strike to Keon Coleman, and an insurance field goal from Matt Prater, the Bills were on cruise control and snatched a big win on the road.

McDermott emphasized the importance of second half adjustments for the Bills to be successful in this contest, especially in a low-scoring 7-3 game when the offense had a couple costly turnovers.

"We were driving the ball in the first half against a good defense, and then we were shooting ourselves in the foot with a couple false start penalties and losing the ball. So that was really the message at halftime, more than anything, is to take care of the ball and make sure we're executing the way we know how to execute", McDermott told the media.

In order to play well in a hostile environment like Pittsburgh, teams in the NFL have to play with toughness and composure. McDermott credited his offense and defense in the second half with that specific style of dominance.

"They were kind of just flying around playing relentless style football. They work hard during the week and take a lot of pride in their work. So I couldn't be happier with the way they played tonight," McDermott said.
