DETROIT (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police made three arrests involving high speed and reckless driving in Detroit Sunday night.
The crackdown started on I-94 when MSP troopers first pulled over two Dodge Chargers that were caught weaving in and out of traffic at 126 miles per hour. Both drivers were ticketed for their speed and then released.
When the troopers resumed patrol, they soon noticed the same two sets of Charger taillights ahead in the distance, now traveling 112 miles per hour.
The troopers were able to stop one of the Chargers, but the other continued on and was later found at a gas station. Both drivers were placed under arrest for reckless driving and their vehicles were impounded.
However, the I-94 speeders weren't the only reckless drivers in Detroit Sunday night.
MSP troopers said they also caught a Ford Mustang traveling 131 mph on eastbound I-696 near Dequindre.
The driver of the car said he was upset and looking to track down his wife.
The 30-year-old man from Eastpointe was arrested for reckless driving and his car was impounded.
