FRASER (WWJ) – Three juveniles arrested after a deadly stabbing in Fraser last week have been charged with murder.
A week after a 14-year-old was stabbed to death and two others were hurt at a home on Garfield Road, near Klein, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday each juvenile has been charged with felony murder and one count of first-degree home invasion.
One juvenile was also charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, while the two others were charged with two counts of assault and battery.
Authorities have not released the names or ages of those charged in the attack, which prompted Fraser schools to issue a lockdown and postpone after-school activities.
If convicted of felony murder, the juveniles could face up to life in prison.
“This tragedy forever changed the lives of the families involved,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said, per a press release. “We seek justice for the victims and ask that their privacy be respected.”
While many details surrounding the stabbing remain unclear, the parents of one of the stabbing victims have said the attack was the result of a dispute over a girl.
Fraser Public Schools was advised to lock down the nearby Fraser High School and Richards Middle School as a safety precaution while police were investigating last Tuesday. In a letter to parents, school officials did clarify that the incident occurred off school grounds and after school hours. All after-school activities were postponed.
The three suspects were arraigned Wednesday morning and remain in the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center without bond. Their next court date is scheduled for Sept. 28.
