LIVONIA (WWJ) – Four people are in police custody in connection with the kidnapping of two infant twins in Livonia that led to an Amber Alert on Monday.

The two-week-old twins – Matthew and Montana Bridges – were kidnapped Sunday night from the Quality Inn in Livonia, where the parents say they were staying after someone tried to break into their home.

Early Tuesday evening Livonia police announced on Facebook four arrests had been made related to the kidnapping. No information about any of the suspects was released.

Officials said the case will be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and the investigation is still ongoing.

Police officials said Monday the boys were left with “friendly acquaintances” of the mother while she left the room. But when she came back, they had been kidnapped.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday morning several hours after they had allegedly been taken. Police released photos of two women suspected in the kidnapping.

Before noon on Monday, the twins were dropped off at the front desk of the Detroit Police Department’s 9th Precinct.

Livonia Police Cpt. Greg Yon told WWJ earlier Tuesday afternoon one woman was in custody, but another was still on the run.

“We currently have one suspect in custody and we are actively searching for the second suspect out of the two that were posted in the media previous to this and it’s a continuing, ongoing investigation,” Yon said.

About an hour later police announced four people had been arrested.

The twins were taken to a hospital to be checked out and are said to be doing fine after being reunited with their parents.

Yon said no other details surrounding the case could be released at this time. He said he could not comment on unconfirmed reports that the boys' father said the family had reached out on Facebook looking for help caring for the twins.
