UTICA (WWJ) -- A police chase starting near Flint that went on for more than 60 miles ended with a crash early Friday morning in Macomb County.
The chase began when Grand Blanc Township Police Department's Sgt. Scott Theede said officers were investigating a report of a suspicious SUV near a car dealership.
When police approached the white Escalade to try and talk with the driver, he sped off.
The Escalade was later discovered to be stolen from a Flint car dealership, according to investigators.
Theede said the chase headed eastbound on I-69 into Lapeer County where sheriffs stop-sticked the suspect, but he continued driving on flat tires.
The suspect headed toward M-53 southbound, continuing on to M-59 westbound where he lost control of the vehicle, crashing near Mound Road.
Theede said the suspect bailed, fled on foot and had to be tazed.
The suspect was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
More information about the suspect is expected to be released this afternoon, as charges are pending.
