GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) -- The desperate search for a missing toddler in West Michigan has come to a tragic end.

At around 9 a.m. Monday, the Kent County Sheriff's Office said a search party found the body of 1-year-old Noah Alan Jordan in a creek about a mile north of his home in Byron Township, southwest of Grand Rapids.

Officials said Noah, who was close to 2 years old, disappeared at around 11:05 a.m. on Sunday. He was last seen outside his house in the Cutler Estates, in the Division and M-6 area, wearing his pajamas.

Authorities had been searching via air, land and water since the child disappeared.

On Sunday, police canvassed the neighborhood, stopping at every home. Later, investigators were focusing their search on the nearby Buck Creek, which had been flowing higher and faster than normal in recent days.

The sheriff's office said, in a statement: "We thank the community for their support during this difficult time. The KCSO also thanks our local partners: the Michigan State Police, Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, Cutlerville Fire Department, Georgetown Fire Department, and several other fire and search and rescue agencies that helped since the onset yesterday. Our hearts are with the family and friends of Noah during this difficult time. KCSO will continue to support the family during this time of grieving."

No further information was released.
