
DETROIT (WWJ) - An investigation is underway after the body of an unidentified man was discovered floating in a canal on the Detroit River on Friday morning.
Detroit Police Department's Cpl. Dan Donakowski told WWJ that the body was reported around 7 a.m. on June 23 after a person spotted it in the river next to the boat ramp near Riverside Park, in the area of West Jefferson and 24th.
Fire crews recovered the body from the water and medics determined the man was dead on scene.
The man has not yet been identified by authorities. The cause of death, as well as how long the body was in the water, will be determined by the medical examiner.
An investigation into the incident remains ongoing. No other information was released.
