DETROIT (WWJ) - A pair of juveniles were sent to the hospital with gunshot wounds Thursday night after they were allegedly targeted by a shooter in a vehicle on the city's east side, police said.

The Detroit Police Department said via WDIV that a group of girls had gathered on 14460 Fairmount near Regent Drive just before 9:20 p.m. when a disagreement broke out between them.

A car then approached the group and someone inside began open firing.

Officials said that a 16-year-old girl was hit in the shoulder and was privately taken to a local hospital.

Another victim, a 17-year-old boy, also sustained gunshot wounds, authorities said. He, too, was privately transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

As reported by WDIV, Detroit police said both victims are in stable condition at this time.

The investigation into the shooting remains active. No other details were made known at this time.
