DETROIT (WWJ) – A Detroit man is facing charges for an alleged knife attack that left a DDOT bus driver hospitalized last week.
Brandon Marquis Hobson has been charged with one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and one count of felonious assault.
The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 8, when Hobson allegedly stabbed a 52-year-old DDOT bus driver following a verbal altercation.
"We are in times today where people who are stepping up to do already difficult jobs cannot even do so without putting their lives in danger," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "It was hard being a city bus driver even in pre-pandemic times. This case is illustrative of what can happen during the ordinary workday of a bus driver. The alleged actions of this defendant drive the point home even more."

The prosecutor’s office says Detroit police officers were called to the scene around 11:30 a.m. on the report of “DDOT trouble” in the area of Grand River Avenue and Trinity Street – near McNichols Road – on the city’s northwest side.
When officers showed up, the victim identified Hobson as the person who allegedly stabbed him multiple times.
Hobson was arrested on-scene, while the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities said the day of the stabbing the victim was in serious condition, but officials have not given an update on his condition.
Hobson was arraigned on Friday in 36th District Court in Detroit and given a $25,000 or 10% bond. He is scheduled to be back in court for a probable cause hearing on Dec. 23 and a preliminary exam on Dec. 30.
