(WWJ) — Michigan has earned yet another top honor after the Motor City was named one of the greatest places on earth by a major publication on Tuesday.
TIME Magazine revealed their list of top 50 Greatest Places in the World for 2022, which included well-known cities such as Portland, Ore., Queenstown, New Zealand, Copenhagen, Denmark and São Paulo, Brazil.
Detroit was ranked among them.
Subtitled "Newfound Glory" by the American magazine, TIME applauded Detroit's comeback efforts and advancements almost a decade after the embattled city filed for bankruptcy in 2013.
The publication gave a shoutout to Detroit's modern, technological developments, such as the Michigan Central district's electric vehicle (EV) charging highway — the first such system to be built in the United States.

TIME also commended the city's flavorful and growing food and drink scene.
"Some of the best: Midnight Temple, an Indian gastropub near Eastern Market; Rosemary, chef Maxcel Hardy’s rosemary-filled café and accompanying cigar lounge called Byrd; What’s Crackin’, a seafood-boil restaurant serving up Great Lakes–caught fish; and Basan, a Japanese robata restaurant," the magazine highlighted.
Detroit's revitalization has also branched into the hospitality industry, with over 500 new hotel rooms currently under construction.
TIME listed the Cambria Hotel, a 158-room luxury lodging in the heart of downtown featuring golf simulators, Bluetooth mirrors and dining options -- such as a 24-hour taco bodega, as an up-and-coming place to stay when it opens in late 2022.
"Keeping true to its roots, the Cambria Detroit features elements of the Albert-Kahn architecture and WWJ radio station, while bringing in local artwork and
menus that capture local flavor," the hotel said on its website.
The ROOST Apartment Hotel was also highlighted by the publication, who applauded the restoration of Detroit's iconic architecture. The ROOST is currently under development in the city's Book Tower.
TIME Magazine's latest honor comes among a list of accolades Michigan has received in recent weeks.
The Detroit Riverfront named the Best Riverwalk in America by USA Today and Mackinac Island was awarded the title of Best Island in the Continental U.S. by Travel and Leisure.
