Detroit Police are hoping the public can help them identify a man with a stash of counterfeit cash.
The suspect is wanted on a charge of larceny for an incident on Friday, Nov. 27, at a gas station on Gratiot Ave. on the city's east side.
According to investigators, the man walked into the Project Green Light businesses at around 8:40 a.m., and asked to exchange 200 $1 bills for $20 bills.
After exchanging the bills, the clerk noticed that the $1 bills were counterfeit and demanded his money back from the suspect, police said.
The suspect refused, and fled the area in a black 2017 Cadillac XTS.
Anyone who recognizes the man, seen in a security camera photo, or who has any information about this crime, is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Seventh Precinct Detective Unit at 313-596-5740 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587). As always, those calling Crime Stoppers will remain 100% anonymous.
