Detroit Police asking for tips to find missing 17-year-old girls Lauren and Janyeh in separate cases

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit Police investigators are asking for the public's help in finding two missing teenagers in separate cases.

According to police, art around 7 a.m. Friday, May 26, 17-year-old Lauren Abney left her home in the 16100 block of Steel Street, near Puritan on Detroit's west side.

She had not been seen or heard from since, according to her family.

Abney is described as a Black female, 5’3” tall and around 170 lbs., with long, straight black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black top, and blue jeans.

Anyone who has seen Abney, or who may know where she is, is asked to call the DPD's 12th Precinct at 313-596-1201.

Also missing is 17-year-old Janyeh Gardner of Detroit.

Police said Gardner left her home in the 13000 block of Promenade, near E. Outer Drive on the east side, earlier this month.

While an exact date is unknown, police said the teen left sometime around the week of May 8, and family members have not seen or heard from her since.

Gardner is described as a Black female, 5'5" tall and weighing around 160 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.

It's unknown what she was wearing when she left.

Anyone who may have any information about Gardner's whereabouts should call the DPD's 9th Precinct at 313-596-5901.
