TROY (WWJ) - One Macomb County woman is facing several charges after police observed her stumbling and snoozing during a traffic stop in Troy.
Officers with the Troy Police Department said they were first made aware of the driver suspected of being under the influence around 7:40 p.m. March 25, after a caller reported a silver Ford Eco swerving between lanes and stopping at a green traffic light for several cycles before taking off.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle near Square Lake Road and Crooks Road where they saw the vehicle swerving and unable to stay in one lane.
Police initiated a traffic stop where the 55-year-old driver told police she was very tired; her speech was slurred and her eyes were glassy and watery. According to authorities, the woman admitted to taking Norco about two hours prior.
Officers conducted sobriety tests which they said the woman performed badly-- further sobriety tests were unable to be preformed after the driver fell asleep while standing.
The woman was taken into custody and brought to the Troy Police Lock-up Facility where police found three pills identified as Vicodin and Baclofen in her left pants pocket.
Officers also found a pill bottle in the woman's purse with 20 other mixed tablets.
The woman was transported to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital for medical treatment given her inebriated state and a blood draw was preformed by hospital staff with a search warrant obtained by police.
The woman was later charged with Operating While Under the Influence of Narcotics and Possession of Narcotics.
