Detroit Police are searching for a man who crashed a van into a liquor store on the east side, in what investigators believe was an attempted burglary.

It happened at around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, in 10200 block of Van Dyke, near Lynch, west of City Airport.

According to investigators, the suspect -- wearing all dark clothing -- apparently tried to drive a stolen 2006 Ford Econoline Van into the store, but was only able to make a small hole in the back of the building.

It does not appear he was able to get inside, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit Police Department’s Eleventh Precinct at 313-596-1140, or the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587). As always, those calling Crime Stoppers will remain 100% anonymous.
