DETROIT (WWJ) -- A mass shooting that injured 6 people and killed two on Detroit's west side occurred after an argument about a car blocking a driveway.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, near Coyle and Plymouth.

Detroit police say the suspect, who is in his 30s, allegedly shot in the air first, then into a home with a second gun after an argument with a neighbor about his driveway being blocked while a birthday party took place at a home across the street.

Police say the suspect shot from the first and second levels of his home. Upon officers' arrival, they noticed the suspect has strategically placed weapons throughout his home.

Most of the people who were shot were in their 30s -- one was 19 years old. Two people died while six others were hospitalized. One of those who are hospitalized is in critical condition.

"Our community deserves better," said Detroit Police Chief James White.

Police say that 11 weapons were recovered from the suspect's home.

The suspect is in police custody.
