(WWJ) – Michigan State Police is holding a fundraiser to help a trooper hit by a car on I-94 two days before Christmas.

Trooper Anna Humes of the department’s Metro South Post was responding to a three-car crash on I-94 near Chene Street in Detroit around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 when another car passing the scene lost control and hit a parked car, causing a chain reaction.

Humes suffered significant injuries when she was pinned between the car and concrete barrier, leaving her unable to return to duty for the next 12-18 months.

Troopers said in December the driver who lost control was traveling too fast for road conditions in the midst of the winter storm and failed to move over for emergency vehicles.

MSP officials announced Monday the department is holding a spaghetti fundraiser to support the trooper’s road to recovery.

The fundraiser will be held Friday, March 3 from 5-10 p.m. at the Wyandotte Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. Admission is $20 for adults, $5 for on-duty first responders, $5 for children under 16, and free for children under 5.

Dinner includes all you can eat spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad. There will also be a cash bar.

Tickets can be purchased at the Metro South Post or by calling Sgt. Micah Keller at 248-296-3622 or Lt. Brian Kross at 810-285-4243.

MSP officials shared instructions on how to donate directly, including by cash, check or credit card.
