
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Investigators asking for help from the public to identify and locate a man who allegedly assaulted and robbed a young woman last week on the city's west side.
The Detroit Police Department said the armed robbery happened early in the morning of Thursday, August 3, in the 22000 block of Plymouth Rd., near W. Outer Drive.
At around 1:40 a.m., police said the unidentified suspect was "invited by the 24-year-old female victim into her residence."
Once inside the victim's home, police said the suspect assaulted her with a weapon, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
He then fled the scene.
Police did not specify the type of weapon, and did not say how seriously the woman was hurt.

The suspect, who remained as large on Monday, is described as a male in his mid-30s, around 5’9” tall, with a full beard. He was last seen wearing a black hat, sunglasses, a gray t-shirt, green pants and black Adidas shoes.
