Salute to America returns to Greenfield Village with a twist

DEARBORN (WWJ) After a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Salute to America is back at Greenfield Village with a twist.

The Henry Ford and Detroit Symphony Orchestra are once again teaming up as part of their 25-year partnership for the Salute to America: Summer Stroll starting Wednesday, June 30 through Saturday, July 3.

The well-loved event is reimagined this year as a “strolling musical experience” taking place over the entire Village. The DSO will split up into smaller ensemble groups in various performance locations.

“Guests can walk through the Village at their leisure to listen to the sweet sounds of DSO musicians playing Americana and patriotic favorites,” a press release from the Henry Ford Museum reads.

The DSO will rotate throughout the evening to feature the sweet sounds of each section of the orchestra—brass, woodwinds, and strings.

The show will feature multiple musical styles including jazz, choral singers, ragtime performers. Guests can also take part free carousel rides, food and beverages, and a fireworks finale amid the historical buildings of Greenfield Village.

Non-members 12+ will pay $32 for tickets. Admission for seniors over the age of 62 is $28.75; youth 5-11, $22.50. Children 4 and under are free. Members get a 15% discount.
