TROY (WWJ) Police have made an arrest in connection with the deadly shooting of a Detroit firefighter at a Troy gas station.
Investigators say a 55-year old man from Rochester Hills was shot and killed after some type of road rage incident around 9:45 p.m. Monday that ended with a shooting in a Shell gas station parking lot.
While the victim's name has not yet been released, Detroit Fire Department Deputy Commissioner Dave Fornell told WWJ Newsradio 950 that the man was an active member and lieutenant with the department.
Officials said the victim had left his home in Rochester Hills and pulled into the gas station, on Rochester Road, when he was followed by a white Jeep Cherokee.
The drivers then got into a verbal altercation, police said, before security video shows a passenger in the Jeep firing shots and then taking off.
Early Tuesday morning, police said the suspects showed up at the Troy Police Department. After they talked with detectives, one person was taken into custody.
A report will be sent to the prosecutor's office to determine charges, police said.
No names have been released.
Troy police are still asking any witnesses to contact investigators at 248-524-3477.
