BELLEVILLE (WWJ) -- A Wayne County teen has been arrested after being caught with a gun at school.

Police say the 15-year-old student allegedly dropped a handgun onto the floor while inside a bathroom at Belleville High School Monday at around 8 a.m., which another student in an adjacent stall noticed and notified officials.

The Belleville Police School Resource Officer located and apprehended the student and the firearm was recovered.

The student was arrested and taken to the Wayne County Youth Home and interviewed.

However, after speaking with them, police determined the teen didn't have any issues with the high school or within the community, and they don't think they were intending harm to any other students or teachers.

Investigators haven't said if or when the 15-year-old will be allowed back in class or if he will face charges.

No other detail have been released.
