(WWJ) – Wednesday, 4/20, is the unofficial holiday for cannabis enthusiasts, with many Michiganders now celebrating legally.
What is the most popular food to cure “the munchies” in Michigan this holiday?
According to geotagged Twitter data, it’s Taco Bell.
A study of tweets and hashtags of words associated with cannabis use shows each state’s most popular “munchie” food. For example, the study tracked food brand mentions in any tweets mentioning #420, #420day, #munchies, #cannabis, #marijuana, #happy420, "4/20," "smoke weed," or other related phrases. The study tracked more than 260,000 tweets.
The folks at smokedmeatsunday.com – a different kind of “smoking website” -- compiled a map showing each state’s favorite snack using trends software with direct access to geotagged twitter data. They do food based trends maps every month.

Taco Bell was by far the most popular, with 17 states – including Michigan’s immediate neighbors. Other popular brands include Chipotle, Pizza Hut, Doritos and Popeye’s.
Other popular brands that did not win any states were Domino's, Jack In The Box, Lunchables, Papa John's, Goldfish, White Castle, and Pop Tarts.
