TROY (WWJ) -- Employees at a daycare center in Oakland County called police to report a mother who'd arrived to pick up her child while apparently under the influence.
Troy Police said an arrest was made on the scene last Friday, after a report came in about a "possible drunk driver" at the Boys and Girls Club on John R Road, south of Wattles.
After the call came in form daycare staff, shortly before 1:30 p.m., officers arrived to find the parent in her car, which was running and double parked in the parking lot.
Officers spoke with the driver, noting that she "appeared to be extremely intoxicated due to her slurred speech, difficulty answering questions, eye fluttering, inability to keep both eyes open, and lack of balance," according to the police report.
The 37-year-old Royal Oak woman told officers that she didn't have anything to drink, but did take Klonopin and Ativan (prescription anxiety medications) prior to driving.
The woman failed a series of field sobriety tests, police said, but then blew a .000% BAC on a breathalyzer test.
The woman was then arrested on a charge of Driving Under the Influence of Narcotics. She was read her chemical test rights and submitted to a blood draw at Troy Beaumont Hospital.
Police said the woman was released to the hospital for care pending the
blood test results. Her name was not released.
