RAY TWP. (WWJ) -- A wild scene unfolded in Macomb County Tuesday night that ended with a woman dead and her husband behind bars.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on the 62000 block of North Ave. between 28 and 29 Mile roads in Ray Township -- near Romeo -- for a report of shots fired.

Police said a man outside the home was shooting into the home while another man inside was shooting back.

When police arrived, they found a 49-year-old woman dead inside of a car and her 46-year-old husband outside of the car. A gun was laying nearby.

The husband was arrested.

At this time, police said another man exited the home and was yelling that there was a second shooter inside.

The SWAT team was called in and when they made entry into the house they found a man wounded. He also had a gun and was arrested.

Officers were able to rescue three adults and two children from the home who weren't hurt.

Police say the incident appears to have been a dispute between the two men, but they are still looking into a motive.

North Avenue was closed Wednesday morning as authorities conducted the investigation, and drivers were asked to avoid the area. The road has since been reopened.

All names are being withheld until further investigation.
