NOVI (WWJ) -- The big showplace in Oakland County's Novi — known for hosting popular events such as Motor City Comic Con and the Michigan State Fair — is getting a new name.
As of Jan. 1 2026, the 320,000-square foot facility on Grand River Ave. will be known as "the Vibe Credit Union Showplace."
In a news release Wednesday, Vibe Credit Union — a not-for-profit financial cooperative — said the renaming reflects its local commitment and its belief that major public venues should carry names tied to local identity, local accountability and local investment.
“Vibe Credit Union works to lead our industry in the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people.’ Our purpose of ‘Elevating Community. Creating Opportunity’ are not just words on a wall but the guiding principle in all we do,” said Chaz Rzewnicki, President & CEO, Vibe Credit Union. “As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, our profits stay in the region. Growth drives our ability to make a bigger impact locally - and that is what this partnership offers - a way to inform the community about Vibe Credit Union and help people on a much larger scale.”
Vibe said the naming rights opportunity provides a platform to create greater awareness for Vibe, as well as the credit union model.
The building — which is the second largest convention center in Michigan, behind only Detroit's Huntington Place — is currently called the Suburban Collection Showplace.
"We are proud to welcome Vibe Credit Union as our new naming rights partner. This partnership represents a shared vision for growth, innovation, and community connection. Together, we look forward to elevating the guest experience, expanding the positive impact we have across Southeast Michigan, and creating new opportunities that strengthen the region we serve. We’re honored to embark on this journey with Vibe," Blair Bowman Sr., Showplace Ownership.
Some history: The old Novi Expo Center closed in 2005, when events were moved down the road to the brand new showplace — opening in 2005 at the Rock Financial Showplace. The showplace was renamed the Suburban Collection Showplace, on Jan. 1, 2011, after the naming rights were purchased by the Suburban Collection.
The old Novi Expo Center was demolished in 2012.
