BEAVER ISLAND, Mich. (WWJ) -- An 11-year-old child is the only survivor of a deadly plane crash in northern Michigan on Saturday.
The U.S. Coast Guard says a single-engine plane with five people aboard crashed Saturday on Beaver Island while flying into a small airport.
Authorities say the Island Airways flight was headed to the airport on the island, located in Lake Michigan, when it crashed, killing four of the five people.
A report from the Petoskey News says a realtor from northern Michigan, Mike Perdue, and Kate Leese and Adam Kendall -- who were planning a vineyard on the island -- and the pilot of the plane.
Perdue's 11-year-old daughter was the only survivor.
The man died en route to the hospital, officials said. The others died at the scene of the crash. Two dogs were also reportedly killed in the crash.
The girl’s condition was not known Sunday morning, but she received chest compressions on the flight to the hospital, according to the Coast Guard.

Coast Guard officials said the MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was conducting a training flight in the area when they received an emergency locator transmitter alert.
Beaver Island is located in Lake Michigan, northwest of Petoskey and south of the Upper Peninsula.
A report from the Petoskey News says plane crashes are uncommon in the area, as this is the first crash of an Island Airways aircraft. Another area airline saw a deadly crash back in 2001.
