LSU football has to bounce back from one of its more trying seasons in recent memory, but as far as the rankings are concerned, it's business as usual.
The Tigers landed at No. 16 in the Associated Press's preseason top-25 poll, marking the 21st consecutive year LSU has started its season in the rankings. LSU was slotted No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches poll last week. UL-Lafayette also landed in the preseason rankings at No. 23.
LSU began the 2020 season with a No. 4 rankings, but quickly fell after an opening loss to Mississippi State. They finished the year unranked despite winning their final two games to get to 5-5.
Alabama was unsurprisingly the top-ranked team, followed by Oklahoma, Clemson and Ohio State. The Tigers open their 2021 season at UCLA on Sept. 4.
