LSU women's basketball got off to an 0-2 in their Southeastern Conference schedule, but they rallied to win 12 of their final 14 and sit in prime position with the SEC and NCAA Tournaments looming.

They'll have to wait and see exactly where they land in the big dance, but head coach Kim Mulkey said they'll be relying on veteran depth when they get there.

“I have experience. That means I’m old, but I’m not out there shooting, passing or dribbling," Mulkey said this week on WWL Radio, "so I can give a little bit of knowledge and I can share things with the team, but you’ve got to have experience on the floor and you know, Flau’Jae Johnson, Mikaylah Williams, those young ladies, this is their third and fourth years in college and they’ve got to lead us and help us with the eight newcomers we’ve had this year and they’ve done a remarkable job."

Johnson has continued to be a standard-bearer for the program in her senior campaign, averaging 13.8 points and 4.3 rebounds. She's joined by Williams 13.8 points, ZaKiyah Johnson's 10.2 points and transfer MiLaysia Fulwiley's 14.1 points, largely off the bench. The Tigers have also had a balanced approach, with eight players averaging 8 points or more.

"I’m very, very excited about postseason," Mulkey continued. "I’m not a big fan of conference tournaments. Whatever happens here happens. We’ll play hard. We’ll try to win it all, but at the end of the day it’s about the NCAA playoffs.”

LSU is currently projected to be a 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but they could pick up some big wins in the SEC Tournament, with the Tigers facing off with 5th seeded Oklahoma on Friday and a rematch with top seeded South Carolina looming on Saturday.
