LSU coach Ed Orgeron repeatedly said he was confident several players battling injuries would be healthy for the opener against UCLA, but it was an academic issue that kept a trio of players out of the action Saturday at the Rose Bowl.
Running back John Emery was among those players, according to the broadcast, which didn't specify the nature of the issue.
Wide receiver Jontre Kirklin and linebacker Soni Fonua were out for the same reason, according to a report on LSU radio.
